I am sitting in the Munich airport for a few hours trying to put the time to good use. Here are some photos/stories from Thanksgiving.
Here was my invitation to Thanksgiving dinner (address and RSVP info deleted):
I had a good time but badly missed Eden. She was asked for at every turn.
For Judith's Thanksgiving, I was in full cooking/baking mode. I was up until 5 a.m. rolling out pies. I made 5 pies: 2 pumpkin, 2 apple, and 1 cherry (requested by the head of the consular section).
Here is the only photo of me (Brian was my assistant):
And here is Judith with Rosa (her assistant). Jude actually has 2 kitchens, one downstairs and one upstairs. There was a lot of running up and down to check on things boiling or baking. There was the occasional confusion over where the can opener or measuring cup was, but otherwise it was a perfect set up. (Brian was in charge of mixing up the Applietinis)
I also made stuffed mushrooms that came out better than ever (Ted, I will tell you the secret recipe if you want to know).
Then the guests started arriving and they were helpful too. John carved turkey, Paul carved the ham, and Dave did dishes.
Lots of other people helped just by eating it all.
The guests were from the UK, Ireland, and Bosnia Herzegovina. They were all pretty afraid of the orange foods - the squash and the pumpkin pie. Everyone had a really great time and of course there were lots of leftovers, but I couldn't take any as I am on my way to Korea (as we speak actually).
