Random Quiz from a Friend's Blog

You Are Raisin Bran

You are the type of person who wants it all in life...

And to the surprise of some, you usually do have it all.

If something only serves one purpose, it's of no use to you.

While people may assume you are greedy, you really are just seeking balance.

Unsurprisingly, you want your breakfast to be both healthy and tasty.

Like with all things, you won't settle for anything but the best.

What Kind of Cereal Are You?

[info]allysther had this quiz posted on her blog so I took it too.  It is kind of ironic because yesterday we got our first peer evaluations back.  Out of 8 people in my squad (there are 9, but you cannot rate yourself), on average I was ranked 6th.  Our squad is really strong (we crushed the other 15 squads on the obstacle course on Saturday by more than 2 minutes; that's a HUGE lead) so it was really hard to rate everyone.  Several people said they just made their list in alpha order (so basically I got screwed).  There was little consistency in my rankings (I was ranked from 3rd to 7th), but there was a consistent theme in the negative comments: does not accept criticism and arrogant.  If 6 out of 8 people said this (plus Ted), then I have to accept that it's true.  To be fair, the positive comments were confident (maybe a synonym for "conceited"), organized, and good personality (does that mean unattractive?).

Anyway, I will be careful to notice how I react to criticism.  I certainly do not want people to think that they cannot tell me their opinion.  That would really hurt me at my first duty station.  But the truth is that I don't believe in settling and in a lot of ways, I do have it all, so I probably come off as arrogant; sorry folks, but that's not going to change.  I will do my best to avoid making an issue out of it.

Catching up on Korea

airplane, travel, mountains
I am posting some back-dated stuff to catch everyone up on my Korea trip.

This was not my first trip to Asia. I went to Thailand to visit my sister in 1999 and 2002. However, Korea was very different from Thailand. It had many of the same crowded dirty alleys.

But in contrast, much of Seoul is beautifully clean. At the airport, I am very certain that you could safely lick the floors. It is also very large, like Bangkok, but somehow less overwhelming.

I spent the majority of my time just hanging out with my college roommate and her family ( [info]allysther , [info]zanla , and target cat). That meant meeting targetcat's bus (this is a picture that allysther snapped of me at a local playground...see more of her photos).

And watching him at Tae Kwon Do...he earned his blue belt while I was there...

I did try the food, but it was not for me. It was not just my issues with spice and meat. I am not big on eating things I cannot identify.

At least the company was great...

I'm going to Korea

Why?  Because that's where

[info]allysther and  [info]zanla are...with Target Cat, of course.

What will I do there?  Who knows?  I think I may attempt to track down some of the students I worked with at Hankuk University, but I realize that Seoul is a huge place and where I am may not be convenient for them.  Other than that, I plan to just get a feel for the place and hang out with dear friends.
