270+ People Sickened at Pomodorino

Sarajevo, city scene
Pomodorino is a hugely popular local pizza and sandwich shop.  Apparently, the mayonnaise went bad at some point before the lunch rush on Wednesday.  There are so many sick people, the hospital is bursting at the seams.

Unfortunately, two of our 3rd cohort students are among the sick and hospitalized.  They are not Bosnian.  One is American and the other is from Afghanistan.  They are good friends and at least they are together.  They had to be housed in the psych ward because there was no space anywhere else.  Neither of them speak the local language.

We have communicated with them and they seem to be in good spirits, but very, very ill.  A student that saw them said, "they look horrible".

The government will levy heavy fines on the ownership - that's after they pay everyone's hospital bill.  It was a nice place so it's a bit sad that this will probably put them out of business.  Hopefully, this will encourage other restaurants to be more careful, but if you look at the last few years in the States, this type of thing keeps happening over and over again.

Currently Pomodorino is closed with a sign on the front door that says "Reconstruction".
